Maribel Romero is an Academic Consultant and Educational Counselor with extensive experience supporting students, families, and schools in developing strong academic and personal foundations. She holds a Master of Science in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from National University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences in Social Work from San Diego State University.
With a multidisciplinary background in education, counseling, and community services, Maribel has worked in various educational and social service settings supporting students from elementary through high school. Her experience includes working with the San Ysidro School District as an Instructional Media and Resource Aide, Outreach Consultant, and Healthy Start Facilitator, where she supported student success through academic guidance, family engagement, behavioral support, and community resource coordination.
Maribel has extensive experience working with students with diverse academic, social, and emotional needs, including participation in Student Study Teams, 504 plans, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). She has also facilitated student support groups, organized parent workshops, and coordinated community outreach initiatives designed to strengthen family involvement in education.
In addition to her professional work in schools and community programs, Maribel has been homeschooling her own children since preschool and has taught a variety of homeschool co-op classes for students from 1st through 12th grade. This experience provides her with a unique perspective in guiding families who seek personalized and flexible educational pathways.
As a bilingual and bicultural professional fluent in English and Spanish, Maribel is committed to supporting diverse communities and helping families navigate educational systems with confidence.
